Part Design
As part of an injection molding course in school, project teams were given drawings by local 4th graders to base an injection molded part of off. My team's design was based off of a drawing of a fidget spinner, so I designed the parts in NX to resemble a typical spinner that would also spin like one too.
Mold Design
The molds were designed using NX and then the CNC program was made in NX CAM.
Injection Molding Runs
We performed a number of trial runs in order to make process adjustments and mold modifications to ensure complete filling.
Once adjustments were made we performed a final run of 100+ parts with variations on the temperature, pack time and cool time in order to see the effects different process settings had on the quality of the part.
